Being kinder and gentler is something we could all use a dose of. As women, society is always telling us that we could be more beautiful, and whilst there’s nothing wrong with focusing on outer beauty, it seems there has been an overwhelming drive in that direction, leaving the focus on inner beauty lacking.
Inner beauty is hard to describe but you know it when you see it. It’s what one could call the face of a person’s personality. How kind are they? How zen are they? How generous are they? Are they compassionate? understanding? The list goes on.
The thing is it’s easy to cultivate outer beauty, because there are so many products out there that help you do that, but inner beauty takes a little something else and that thing is sometimes easy and sometimes a little tough, but is always worth doing.
Here are some ways we can cultivate inner beauty and transform our inner selves:
Spend Time Alone
Spending time alone, is an easy way to cultivate being ourselves, something it seems that we are constantly running away from. Our true selves naturally manifest the qualities that constitute inner beauty and so cultivating that is a direct correlation to transforming our inner beauty. Have you ever seen someone who is unapologetically and genuinely themselves, it’s beautiful isn’t it?
Practice those qualities or traits that you want. If you want to be more brave then practice bravery in every circumstance you get; If you want to be more patient, then practice patience. The more you practice these qualities the more they build and grow inside of you.
The Dalai Lamai said, “be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” Because kindness is a trait that we can always practice. To be kind requires a whole host of other traits such as courage and patience, which also build up our inner beauty.
Meditation has so many key benefits, peacefulness, which is a trait of inner beauty, increased happiness and joy, other traits of inner beauty, as well as increasing mindfulness, which as you will see below is an important way to transform your inner self.
Mindfulness is perhaps one of the most important ways to build inner beauty. When you take a stop gap to be mindful and really pay attention to what’s happening, whether it’s inside you or an external situation, you end up making better choices i.e like being kinder, more patient, less rude or less angry. Being mindful allows us to cultivate traits such as kindness, compassion and understanding towards ourselves and towards others, which will always help transform us from the inside out.
