In its bid to cement itself as the go-between for fashion and the red carpet and an authority on celebrity culture, InStyle is holding the second edition of its annual awards show. The intimate dinner event honours the tastemakers and style icons who have shaped the industry in the last year. ‘Dance Moms’ Coach Attacks Kendall Jenner for Using Wrong Ballet Technique in Video for Vogue Spain
A lot of backlash followed the release of a video of Kendall Jenner for Vogue Spain. In the video, the model is dressed as a ballerina and simply twirls around and hops on her toes. Many ballerinas attacked the video for misrepresenting to amount of work that goes into perfecting a ballet routine. Dance Moms’ Abby Lee Miller however took her anger a step further by saying on Instagram that “there are so many amazing dancers in the world… Kendall Jenner is not one of them…Shame on Momager, Kris Jenner!!! Etam Turns 100
Etam will be celebrating its 100th birthday tomorrow with a special edition of its highly anticipated live-streamed Paris Fashion Week show at Centre Pompidou. A party will follow where French rapper, Joey Starr, will perform. Plus-Size Menswear Fashion Show Held in Japan
Sakazen Shoji Co (a plus-size clothing brand) and Mr Babe (a fashion magazine) joint forces in Tokyo to organise a plus-size menswear show dubbed The Tokyo Pochari Collection. The show was aimed at breaking down the plus-size stigma in Japan and featured male models who weigh over 100 kg (220 pounds) walking on the runway. Attendees were treated to a sale which had a requirement that they disclose their weight for discounts on plus-size items. For more, click here.
Pharrell Williams x Adidas
Pharrell Williams is collaborating with Adidas Originals on a new project that aims to celebrate all the colours of human race. According to the hitmaker, the shoes, dubbed Hu (short for human and pronounced like ‘hue’), are “about the recognition and celebration of different colours, spirituality and cultures.” They were first introduced in July with a limited-edition release that was very popular on social media. The new collection will feature a 14-piece apparel collection and five new variations of the shoes. For more, click here.
Cara Delevingne Stars in First Puma Campaign
Puma recently announced that the face of their new “Do You” women’s campaign is British supermodel Cara Delevingne. The campaign features the model showing off her fit body in sportswear pieces by the brand aimed at encouraging women to be more confident. Gabourey Sidibe & Danielle Brooks Star in Lane Bryant’s #ThisBody Campaign
Gabourey Sidibe (American Horror Story) & Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) are featured in the ad campaign of Lane Bryant’s Fall 2016 collection. For the campaign dubbed “#ThisBody is Made to Shine,” the plus-size retailed also enlisted top models Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine. In a statement by the CEO of the company Linda Heasley, she says, “With previous campaigns we’ve helped disrupt the dated and ridiculous views and depictions of the ‘perfect’ body displayed in the media. With ‘#ThisBody Is Made to Shine’, we intend to encourage women to embrace even more positivity and turn the tables on negativity in order to overcome social misconceptions.” For more, click here.
Iman, Chance the Rapper & Suboi Appear in New Kenzo x H&M Ads
Kenzo x H&M is set to hit stores on November 3rd and the pair continue teasing fans with more ad campaigns. The latest images were shot by Jean-Paul Goude and feature Iman, Chance the Rapper and Suboi in the signature animal print clothing. In a statement, H&M said Goude used his “signature hand-made cut-up style, slicing and reassembling the prints to express the exuberance and character of the collection.” For more, click here.
Gigi Hadid Attacked by Serial Prankster in Milan
Not all pranks are funny. While leaving Max Mara’s SS17 show, Gigi Hadid was grabbed and attempted to be picked off the ground by a man who turned out to be celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk. Gigi reacted to the act by punching and elbowing the strange man till he let her go and ran off. When interviewed about the prank, Sediuk attacked the model along with Kendall Jenner saying that she and Jenner have nothing to do with high fashion [and that] by doing this, I encourage the fashion industry to put true talents on the runway and Vogue covers instead of well-connected cute girls from Instagram.” For more, click here.
Pascale Lepoivre Appointed as Loewe CEO
Former Céline executive, Pascale Lepoivre, has been appointed as the new CEO of Loewe. She will be taking over from Lisa Montague effective immediately and will work together with the brand’s Creative Director Jonathan Anderson to take the brand forward. The close working relationship with Anderson means she will spend a lot of time in Paris (where his design studio is based) and Madrid (the brand’s home). For more, click here.
